Juvederm Dermal Filler

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid (HA) used to treat the smiles lines (parentheses) and areas around the mouth. Juvederm is a unique HA because unlike some of its competitors Juvederm gel has HYALACROSS technology which gives Juvederm its special smooth consistency. Juvederm comes in two different gel formulations. Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus. The two different formulas can also be mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to decrease discomfort on injection. When mixed with lidocaine the gels will be labeled Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC.

Who Should Receive Juvederm?

Juvederm is recommended for almost any patient that begins to notice even th earliest signs of facial aging. As specialists in Juvederm injection we will make recommendations. Unfortunately, pregnant patients, patients breastfeeding and patients under the age of 18 are not currently recommended to receive Juvederm.

Juvederm gel is also not recommended in patients with a history of multiple allergies or allergies severe enough to cause anaphylaxis. Juvederm is also not indicated in patients with a history of allergies to Gram-positive bacterial proteins. If a patient presents with a history of an allergy to lidocaine they should not receive the XC versions of with Juvederm Ultra or Ultra Plus.

What are the Juvederm Treatment Areas?

Juvederm can be used to treat smile lines (nasolabial folds), vertical lip lines, oral commissures (corners of the mouth), marionettes lines and chin wrinkles.
